Devices for You to Stop Snoring

calendar July 16, 2010

Your snoring problem affects more the other people than you.  Even if you’re snoring as loud as you can wake up other neighbors, you can sleep with it.  However, just think about how much trouble sleeping your spouse has. If you are really concerned about the other people who you think are trying to bear the noise you produce each night, you certainly should look for ways to lessen if not to prevent yourself from snoring. In this sense, you should try using stop snoring devices that can be easily bought on the web or from selected drugstores.

However, not all of these anti snoring devices will work on you.  That’s why you must learn more about it first and find out for yourself which ones will be suitable for your condition.

Pillows that are specifically designed for snorere are among the simplest tools to have.  The Sandler pillow, for example, induces the user to sleep on his side. The principle here is simply based on the fact that when a person sleeps on his side, the mouth is usually closed, which consequently does not allow snoring. People who lie flat as they sleep are most prone to snore because they can unconsciously open their mouths.

Using the same principle as the Sandler pillow are electronic sleep position monitors.  These devices trigger an alarm each time you shift to a flat position while in your sleep. The alarm will rouse you from sleep so that you can go back to sleeping on your side. However, the downside of this device is that it may also wake your companion in bed. If you can’t control shifting your position in bed, your companion will have a rough night just like when you were snoring. This makes sleep position monitors not a very good option unless you sleep alone.

Snore balls on the other hand are the non-electronic equivalent of the sleep position monitors.  These are as a matter of fact balls that can be placed on the snorer’s back while he is sleeping.  With a ball on your back, you can’t easily lie flat. Therefore, you will be prevented from snoring.  By using this every time you sleep at night, you will soon gain the habit of sleeping on your side only. Soon, you will no longer feel the need for it and you can sleep without it already.  There are other stop snoring devices that you can also try, such as the snore stopper, nasal dilators and strips, and throat sprays. You can buy them from drugstores though. Pillows and balls are things you can easily find at home.
